Bach, J.S. - Three Bach Chorales

£15.00

J.S.Bach (1685-1750) is arguably one of the greatest composers of all time. Born in Germany into a musical family he became a highy respected organist, keyboardist and composer, holding prestigious posts in Leipzig and Weimar. His best known works include the Goldberg Variations, Brandenburg Concertos, The Well-Tempered Clavier, The Art of Fugue, Magnificat and St Matthew Passion.

The three chorales arranged here are: Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress is our God), Nun danket alle Gott (Now thank we all our God) and Es ist genug! So nimm, Herr, meinen Geist (It is enough! Therefore, Lord, take my spirit). Many composers have been influenced by the work of Bach; Felix Mendelssohn used Ein feste Burg in his Symphony No.5 ('Reformation') and used Nun danket alle Gott in his Symphony No.2 ('Hymn of Praise'). Alban Berg used the last chorale  Es ist genug! in his Violin Concerto 'To the memory of an angel' in 1935.

Three Bach Chorales have been arranged for trombone octet by Duncan Wilson and are scored for 6 tenor and 2 bass trombones.

Tenor Trombones 1 to 6 - parts provided in bass clef and Bb treble clef

Bass Trombones 1 & 2 - parts are in bass clef
