Fauré, Gabriel - Il est né, le divin Enfant

Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) is known best for his Pavane, Requiem, and Dolly Suite. Camille Saint-Saëns was an influencial teacher and life-long friend. In his later career some of Fauré’s composition students included Ravel, Enescu and Boulanger. This traditional French Christmas carol, translated as ‘ He is born, the divine Child ’, was first published in 1862 by Romain Grosjean who was organist of the Cathedral of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in Lorraine, north eastern France.

Fauré’s setting of ‘Il est né, le divin Enfant’ dates from 1888 and this arrangement for quartet is by Helen Vollam. It features on our CD All We Want For Christmas ’.

Score and parts provided. Parts for Trombones 1-3 are provided in both bass clef and Bb treble clef. Trombone 4 is in bass clef.
