The pianist and composer Isaac Albeniz I Pascual (1860-1909) was born in Catalonia, Spain. He was child prodigy at the age of four, and went on to study piano in Paris and Madrid. He travelled worldwide, giving concerts in Buenos Aires, Cuba, New York, San Francisco and London. He later studied with Franz Liszt in Weimar. His music is heavily influenced by the Spanish rhythmic and melodic tradition and this lilting Tango is from his piano suite Espana written in 1890.
