Abreu, Zequinha de - Tico Tico no fuba

£15.00

Brazilian composer Jose Gomes de Abreu (1880-1935), better known as Zequinha de Abreu, wrote this song Tico-Tico no Fubá in 1917. It was made famous by Carmen Miranda in the 1947 musical comedy film Copacabana, where she starred opposite Groucho Marx. Tico-tico is a type of sparrow, and fuba is maize flour, so ‘sparrow on the cornmeal’ is the translation of this lively Latin piece.

This arrangement by Lorna McDonald is featured on our CD 'ten'.
